Japanese Tool
While a Japanese tool is known to work on Japanese vehicles, it can work on some domestic made vehicles if it has a thumb style lock. The tool slides between the window's rubber gasket and the glass, and is able to get inside the vehicle by going underneath the glass.
Auto Buster Tool
An auto buster tool works great on GM vehicles that have side locks, since it can reach into a vehicle and manipulate a lock that opens by sliding. It works in a similar style as the Japanese tool, since it goes under the window to get into the vehicle.
Slim Jim Tool
One of the oldest and most frequently used tools is called a slim jim, which is not to be confused with the poplar jerky snack you can find at your convenience store. This tool is designed to go between the window and the door frame, but is used to manipulate the locking mechanism in the door. This tool can only be used on vehicles that do not have electronic locks, and requires a lot of skill to use properly.
